Ordinary Work: Lived Spaces of Asian Women in America

Film Series

Funded by MIT Transmedia Storytelling Initiative

As a reaction to the Atlanta shootings in 2021 that targeted Asian women, Anna Schuessler, Dorothy Tang, Soyoung Park, and I, a group of Asian female identifying MIT DUSP students, created a film series in collaboration with three Asian women working in the service and healthcare sectors. Rather than focus on the violence, the three short films celebrate the everyday lives of Asian women in America. The project aims to document everyday life and work of Asian women and draw attention to how they navigate and negotiate the spaces of American cities.
